What do you think about when you hear the title “Artist”? Do you reserve that title only for those that have completed some higher education?
I think there are MANY artists that don’t use this title. And that’s a shame. There are so many creative people in the world. Those that have the unique ability to see things differently and then brave enough to recreate that beauty they see into something else that can be shared with the rest of the world. To me, that’s the definition of an artist.
It wasn’t until I explored expressing myself by creating that I truly realized I was an artist. A mixed media artist to be exact. My schooling was self-taught expression. I seeked out the knowledge of how to mix various products together to create one cohesive piece of art. And then, practice, practice, practice. This is how I found my passion for creating.
No matter what your medium of choice is, I hope you feel passionate about it, practice it and give yourself permission to use the title of Artist. There is so much joy that comes from practicing and sharing your creations. And something that feels this good should definitely be shared.
